They are at it again!–or should I say “still”–the new family on the hill has created a veritable red, white and blue garden for the Fourth of July. We have been treated to a display for each holiday since they arrived last fall and put us all to shame with their blow-up turkeys for Thanksgiving, October 31, followed immediately by Santa’s train, his workshop, elves and a herd of raindeer the day after Thanksgiving!

January 2nd cupids were peeking from their roof and red lights surrounded heart shaped wreaths and red and white canes guided your path up the steps. The day after Valentine’s Day, Saint Patrick in all his glory debuted. Green shamrocks twinkled and windows were outlined in green and white lights.

Easter came early this year and the blow-up bunnies shivered during our snow storms, but the Easter baskets took over the yard and the multicolored eggs survived. Not one tree lost an egg to the winds!

I was very proud of our neighborhood on Memorial Day. We all displayed our flags of various sizes and several draped red, white and blue bunting from porches. But, as usual, we were “outdone.” Since the holiday has come and gone, I can only assume the hundreds of red, white and blue lights outlining the doors and windows, the glittering red wreaths and lights shining through the shrubs are here until the Fourth of July! On the other hand, Flag Day comes before the Fourth. Do we have sky rockets ahead of us??
